CGGC is the main contractor of Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze river, the largest hydropower project in the world at present, has been assigned over 60% of works, especially constructed Phase I earth/stone cofferdam, open diversion channel on the right bank, Maopingxi diversion tunnel and protection dam, temporary navigation lock and ship lift on the left bank, navigation structure and lower approach, river diversion closure, and Phase II cofferdam and watertight barrier, plant foundation base rock excavation, concrete grouting and metal structure installation, diversion tunnel excavation, installation and commissioning of permanent ship lock metal structure mechanical/electric equipment during Phase II as well as other key project such as left and right powerhouses construction, diversion closure of open channel, and Phase III RCC cofferdam on right bank.
